Container Gardening Take-Off
I stopped posting as things got a little busy around here what with rain storms, garden chores and did I mention, the birth of a grandson? I figured that it would be cruel punishment to not give an update of how the garden is flourishing. We’ve had several rainy days and a couple of warm sunshine days. This has generated a lot of growth. We’ll be getting into some very warm and dry weather soon and it will be more difficult to gauge the moisture level of your pots. Posts dry out faster and the smaller the pot, the faster they dry out. A good tool to use to get an exact measurement is a little tool one sticks in the dirt and the read-out on top shows the moisture content. They are not expensive and can be found at many garden shops. Good tool to keep the moisture level correct for potted plants.
What follows are pics of my garden this week. It looks like we will be picking strawberries soon and the tomatoes, beans and peas will start producing in a couple of weeks. Overall, I’m very pleased with my efforts and glad I put the time in as it is quite evident that a food shortage is on the horizon. This could mean a lack of foodstuffs to buy coupled with higher prices. I urge you all to plant as much as you can, even if you don’t have a yard.
